IC3+ is contributing technical expertise to an ESCWA-led project examining how Iraq’s regional electricity interconnections can strengthen energy security, system resilience and the integration of renewable energy. The project assesses existing and planned interconnection corridors, institutional and regulatory arrangements, power-system digitalization, commercial and financing requirements, and the technical and geopolitical challenges affecting implementation. Its main output is a policy-oriented brief that provides practical, sequenced recommendations and a roadmap for improving Iraq’s readiness for regional power trade and developing a more resilient, flexible and interconnected electricity system.
