Routine gas flaring is burning away billions of dollars in lost fuel and adding avoidable emissions to Iraqโs already stressed climate. What will it take to turn this wasted gas into a pillar of energy security and economic resilience by 2030? We briefly discuss the impact of the recent Khor Mor attack on Iraqโs gas system and what it reveals about the urgency of flaring reduction and gas capture reforms. The Political and Governance Development Academy, in partnership with the Iraq Climate Change Center (IC3+), is hosting a live X Spaces discussion on the technical, regulatory, and financial reforms needed to move beyond routine flaring. ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ Dr. Doraid Abdullah โ Academic & Energy Expert, University of Hamburg, Germany Eng.
