Routine gas flaring is burning away billions of dollars in lost fuel and adding avoidable emissions to Iraq’s already stressed climate. What will it take to turn this wasted gas into a pillar of energy security and economic resilience by 2030? We briefly discuss the impact of the recent Khor Mor attack on Iraq’s gas system and what it reveals about the urgency of flaring reduction and gas capture reforms.
