Submission Guidelines

Before making a submission, we encourage all those interested to have a look at our previous research, articles and publications to ensure non-repetitiveness of pitched topics. Also, to add novel ideas to the work previously conducted.

Originality

The submission shall be novel and inclusive of the author’s own contextualization and analysis of recent or fundamental topics with the latest available data. The editorial team reserves the right to refuse submissions on topics that are not of interest to our audience. The submitted work should be original to the Iraq Climate Change Centre(“IC3+”) and not published elsewhere. Unpublished academic work is acceptable as long as proper approval is secured by the author from their home institution. Also, submissions cannot be derived from previous works or news articles in the majority. 20% of previously published work by the author is acceptable but we retain the right to assess submissions on a case-by-case basis. Furthermore, the submission of work does not guarantee publication. Non-published works will be returned to the author without being used by IC3+, its staff or associated entities.

Exclusivity

Once your pitch is accepted, edited, reviewed then published, it can no longer be published in full elsewhere. We do, however, allow re-publication of work published by the IC3+ after a written request by other institutions and with the consent of the author. Full acknowledgement has to be added to the republished work indicating that the IC3+ was the original publisher of the work. Also, clearly indicating that approval was secured from both the IC3+ and the author. Authors can post an excerpt or summary of published submissions on their own websites or blogs as long as the text does not exceed 250 words and links back to the original page on our website.

Sources, Acknowledgments & Citation

Kindly utilize primary sources of information and data in addition to analysis and news pieces. Official records, interviews, speeches, unpublished research are examples of primary sources. You are expected to provide links to all cited figures and quotations. For reports, you are encouraged to follow a unified academic citation method throughout the written work. For articles, footnote references are acceptable. Our editing team can always provide help on citation methods. We do not accept Wikipedia articles as sources.

Writing, Editing & Length

Authors are required to submit clearly written work while avoiding the use of metaphors, clichés and jargons. All acronyms shall be written in full. Kindly avoid long sentences and be direct and concise. We do provide editing input to submissions as long as the amount of editing to be conducted by our editorial team is not a major redrafting or rewriting. For articles, submissions are limited to 1,000 words. The editor at the IC3+ has the authority to allow exceeding this limit to 1,200 words depending on criteria of originality and importance. For reports, there are no limits on words or pages.

Factualization & Professionalism

IC3+ is an independent, not for profit, and professional organization. Author’s analysis should be fact-driven with citation of references where quotations, information and data are sourced as mentioned above. Every fact, figure or quotation will be linked to the source on the final article or report. Submissions must be written in any appropriate and respectful language. Rumors, unsubstantiated allegations, name-calling, personal attacks and advertising in all forms are not acceptable.

Responsibility

Submissions are considered as Guest Contributions. Authors or Guest Contributors are solely responsible for the content of the published work. Their views do not represent those of IC3+, its staff, members, and associated entities. A Guest Contributor will have a dedicated biography page but will not be considered as an Expert or associated in any way or form with IC3+.

By submitting your work to IC3+, you hereby agree to the guidelines above. All submissions can be sent to info@iraqclimatechange.org in word document format.
